Like many runners, once our participants catch the running bug, they like to set themselves goals – and collect medals! Thanks to the generosity of clubs such as the West Australian Marathon Club in Perth and the Hobson’s Bay Running Club in Melbourne, our runners regularly compete in local races for free. Several of our Langley Park members have completed their first 5km, 10km and half marathon events. In October, 2016, Ian and Kyle completed Melbourne Marathon, a major milestone for any runner but an especially impressive achievement for these two guys who had experienced homelessness and were new to running. Ian and Kyle are testament to what is possible through commitment and motivation, and they continue to be active members of the On My Feet community, having taken on the roles of Perth Coordinator and Recruitment Coordinator respectively.

Our volunteers love to run with our participants, or to cheer them on from the sidelines. The sense of achievement of crossing a finish line is unbeatable. None of our runners are obliged to participate in races – but for those who want to give it a try, we help them to achieve their goals.
